Traffic Analysis / Transport Impact Assessment
LET’S LOOK AT THE
BIGGER PICTURE
For an in-depth review of Traffic Management Plans to benefit both the road user and the contractor.
Transport Impact Assessment (TIA)
A Transport Impact Assessment (TIA) is a process that reviews traffic management plans that may cause significant disruption to road users, as well as public transport users, cyclists, pedestrians, etc. A TIA also estimates traffic waiting times and length of queuing faced by road users. TIA’s generally cover:
- An in-depth review of traffic flow through the site using traffic modelling software
- An in-depth review of conflicting traffic movements (this includes pedestrian, PT, and other movements as well)
- The surrounding areas that can generate traffic, which may then cause different issues during different periods of the day or week.
- Suggest alternative measures to reduce traffic impacts that may be caused by Road works.
- Any potential safety issues that may arise during road works.
Commonly required for:
- Larger sites that affect the surrounding areas and any other TTM site nearby.
- When traffic waiting times and length of queuing need to be determined to a high level of probability
- Determining the hours of works for closures.
- Checking viability of installing a closure 24hrs per day.
- Analysing the difference of impacts between different work periods through the year – for example, working between school holiday periods vs working within school holidays.
Average Cost Range $4000.00 to $ 10 000.00 +
– Does not include obtaining traffic counts, however we can provide an estimate.
– Every TIA will have a unique estimate.
Traffic Analysis (TA)
A Traffic Analysis (TA) is a process that reviews traffic management plans that may cause significant disruption to road users. The TA looks at transport impacts generated by road works, and is based around:
- A basic review of traffic flow through the site, and any potential for impacts to the road user.
- The assumption that the area is mostly used by motor vehicles and pedestrians, cyclists and Public transport users are low priority.
- Providing evidence to see if works on the roading corridor can be done without causing major disruptions.
Commonly required for:
- Smaller sites with very little interaction with the surrounding areas.
- Traffic closures that are installed for short periods of time.
- Checking viability of installing a closure during the day on a level 2 road
- Determining the hours of works for closures.
Average Cost Range $1500.00 to $ 2500.00
– Does not include obtaining traffic counts, however we can provide an estimate.
– Every TA will have a unique estimate.
