Inspector Warrant to Be Retired – Transition to New Micro-Credentials in Temporary Traffic Management
NZTA and Connexis have announced a significant update in the Temporary Traffic Management training landscape. As part of the national transition toward a more structured and competency-based training model, the Inspector warrant will be officially retired on 30 June 2025.
This change is aligned with NZGTTM and reflects a continued evolution in industry standards.
Introduction of New Level 3 Micro-Credentials
In place of the Inspector warrant, Connexis has released three new Level 3 micro-credentials designed to support modern TTM practices:
- Applying Controls to Low-risk, Low-impact Activities
- Assist with TTM within the Road Reserve
- Mobile Operations
These micro-credentials will serve as the primary qualification pathway for individuals operating in low-risk, low-impact traffic management environments and other road reserve activities.
Key Information for Clients
- Inspector Warrant Validity:
Existing Inspector warrants will remain valid until their stated expiry date. No action is required for current holders unless renewal is due prior to 30 June 2025. - Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
Connexis has confirmed that RPL will not be offered for these new micro-credentials due to significant differences in assessment structure and content.
What This Means for You
If you are currently relying on the Inspector warrant as part of your operational framework or workforce planning, you can still complete any final training or assessments prior to 30 June 2025. After this date, only the new micro-credentials will be available for enrolment.
These changes are intended to strengthen the competency and safety of those working in temporary traffic management and support long-term alignment with NZGTTM.
Parallaxx is committed to supporting our clients through this transition and will ensure that all future training pathways meet the evolving needs of the industry.
