Challenge

The southern-most part of the Waikato expressway - the Cambridge section bypasses Cambridge township and became New Zealand's first 110km/hr road when the Land Transport Rule was updated in 2017. The development of a new State Highway corridor through existing areas resulted in numerous challenging intersections, crossings and grade separated solutions.

Solution

This area required the full spectrum of Traffic Management solutions we could call on - from Temporary Traffic Signals to Road Closures to constrained realigned carriageways with very rigid barrier systems. Monthly comprehensive dual-person auditing was conducted to ensure everything was 'best practice' every step of the way.

Results

The new Bypass is complete and fully operational for all to see and use. Numerous innovative solutions developed for this project have been employed since. Our comprehensive auditing systems were vastly developed following this project.
