Challenge

As part of the western ring route suite of projects the construction and traffic staging had to be developed to work in unison with the staging of the 2 existing projects Lincoln Road upgrade and the causeway upgrade. This involved upgrading the intersection and realignment of all ramps. Additional complexity was added when the Te Atatu Road corridor improvements project started

Solution

Close traffic collaboration between projects led to program and traffic staging integration developed during the initial stages of the programme. Night shift works were coordinated to ensure maximum productivity and the least disruption to the road user.

Results

The project was completed with excellent adherence to budget and timeline and an excellent safety record. Many of the unique lessons learnt on this project have translated to other projects.
