Challenge

The northern end of the site is a popular route for cyclist with main cycles routes from the south and east passing through this area, so it was important to maintain safe access and warning of the works to cyclists.

Solution

Innovations on site were the construction of a temporary pedestrian ramp that maintained access to the walkway under the SH20 bridge, as well as connections to the east west cycle routes. Waring signage was also added nearer to Onehunga Mall to detour cyclist to a safer route instead of through the busy worksite.

Results

Project is ongoing with positive feedback from the cycling community of the safety measure in place.
