Challenge

The final stage of Auckland's Western Ring Route aiming to connect SH18 with SH1 . This was the first contract of its kind in New Zealand (a 'Hybrid Alliance') and Parallaxx were involved from tender time to encourage innovation in the Traffic Management space and ensure the best overall project result.

Solution

Some of the most innovative solutions we've ever employed were used on this project - such as 'ghostbusters' to reduce line marking 'ghosting' and extensive use of an unfamiliar but very versatile steel barrier system.

Results

One valuable outcome was due to the extensive safety work and planning - a Temporary Speed Limit (TSL) for all SH1 traffic was able to be avoided (traffic was kept at it's original 100km/hr posted speed) which from a disruption point of view is significant for such a major project.
