        Course Content:

        • Gain an in-depth understanding of the Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Management (CoPTTM) on Level 2 and 3 roads
        • Application of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 in a Temporary Traffic Management context
        • Legal requirements of roadworks sites
        • Develop a consistent approach to traffic control
        • Analyse Traffic Management Plans in relation to various roading situations
        • Apply the planning and setting up of roadwork sites to actual roading situations
        • Produce Traffic Management Plans (TMPs)
        • Understand the requirements for sign selection, placement, safe operating procedures and worksite protection for Level 2-3 roads
        • Carry out audits of the road work sites for compliance using the NZTA audit procedure
        • Gain an understanding of how to work with local authorities (for example Auckland Transport) and how to apply for a CAR


        • There are 6 open book tests
          • Attendees must gain at least 60% in each test to pass the course
          • The first test is an evaluation test to check candidates ability to navigate CoPTTM
          • The remaining tests focus on each section of CoPTTM
        • The tests are open book and attendees are provided a tablet with CoPTTM installed for answering the questions
        • If you have your own laptop we recommend you download and install CoPTTM on it and bring that along


        • PowerPoint presentation delivered by highly experienced industry experts
        • Large open plan room with air-conditioning
        • Maximum course size of 15 to ensure quality learning and every attendee gets one on one time


        • Evidence of qualification is extremely important, especially those who need to provide evidence for jobs or contract work
        • We provide every attendee with a named ID card as evidence of attending the course - this has been approved by Auckland Transport
        • Our system will automatically create and send you a PDF certificate on completion of the course - no waiting around for days for your certificate to be sent out
        • NZTA take 8-12 weeks to send the official certificate, the ID card and PDF certificate can be used as evidence until the NZTA certificate arrives
        • The Level 1 STMS qualification is valid for 3 years from the date of the course


        Must hold a current Level 1 STMS warrant or have held a Level 2/3NP warrant any time in the past.

        This course is another huge step up from Level 1 STMS. We recommend project managers, consultants, engineers and planners progress to this level if they are going to be directly involved in planning projects involving TTM. It is also the stepping stone to Level 2/3 Practising STMS for field staff wanting to move to the next level and work on high volume roads. Field staff are recommended to gain some experience at Level 1 before progressing however this is not mandatory.
