The STMS Category C Non-Practising Workshop provides essential knowledge for managing traffic management operations on Category C roads. Designed for aspiring leaders in Temporary Traffic Management (TTM), this one-day course is the gateway to becoming a practising STMS for complex road environments.---

What You’ll Learn

  • Deliver site safety briefings and inductions.
  • Calculate layout distances for category C road environments.
  • Set up, maintain, and remove TTM for various operations, including lane closures, lane diversions, chicanes, and ramp closures.
  • Execute mobile operations and manage special activities.
  • Navigate and apply NZGTTM standards for Category C roads.

What You’ll Achieve

Upon successful completion, you will receive:

  • Unit standard 31962 (STMS-NP).
  • A digital certificate of completion, automatically issued upon passing.

Workshop Prerequisites

There are no required prerequisites are required to enrol in this workshop, however the STMS universal workshop (unit standard 31961) is recommended.

Assessments

  • Non-Practising Warrant: Assessed progressively during the workshop.
  • Practising Warrant: Requires a separate practical assessment by a TTM Assessor.

Schedule and Duration

  • Time: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
  • Duration: One day (8 hours, including breaks).
  • Days: Weekdays (weekend workshops available for group bookings).

Enrolment Requirements

To enrol, participants must provide one of the following:

  • National Student Number (NZQA RoL)
  • Passport (current)
  • Birth Certificate

Pricing and Payment

  • Cost: $459.00 + GST ($527.85 incl. GST) per person.
  • Assessments: Priced upon request

  • 1 Working Day Before Course: 50% of course cost refunded.
  • On the Day or No Show: No refund; full course cost applies.
